Fourth generation professional photographer Photographing free range people for over 15 years

"Her portraits are alive, honest, richly detailed… they're glimpses across a vast and complex landscape of lives. The result is, inevitably, beautiful."

Jemiah Jefferson, Novelist

"Serena Davidson has a true artist's eye — her portraits are some of the freshest and most penetrating I've ever seen."

Tom Fischer, Editor, Timber Press

"Serena has been working with PICA to capture the amazing nuances of what makes the TBA Festival come alive. Her photographic images have become an important part of our archive, and really do speak for themselves. What is less evident however, is her fantastic rapport with the artists and the audiences she photographs. She truly gives her all."

Kristy Edmunds, Founder, Portland Institute of Contemporary Art

"Serena has clearly mastered an effortless ability to put her subjects at ease so that their true essence comes through."

Jim Radosta, Editor, Just Out Arts & Culture

Serena Davidson began her career over a decade ago in the Northwest. Her photography has taken her onto the football field with Sports Illustrated, as well as onto the basketball court with the Seattle Sonics, on a photo-shoot with Dr. Jane Goodall, documenting the Amazon.com Japan site launch celebration, behind the scenes of the film Coraline at LAIKA studios with Focus Features and photographing performance artists from around the world with the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art including Diamanda Galas. Her work has been published in various publications around the country including The New York Times.

Over the past decade her skill for creating provocative and emotionally honest images has been sought by leading national organizations and publications. She has documented performance artists from around the world for over three years with the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art. During the making of the film Coraline, Ms. Davidson was invited to go behind the scenes with Focus Features at LAIKA Studios where she photographed the creatives bringing the story to life including author Neil Gaiman and director Henry Selick.

Ms. Davidson creates high-quality imagery for individuals, retail companies, corporate businesses, and non-profit organizations. Her versatility in the field is the result of a vast range of experiences, knowledge and skills sets which extend through a variety of cameras and processing techniques—from large format film to digital capture and cutting edge software. Greatly valued by return clients are her acute observational and listening skills, sensitivity to client needs and execution of strong, illustrative imagery.

"It is always a thrill for me to lead a team in creating images that convey a strong, clear message to promote the survival and growth of these special projects and the work they accomplish - especially when the cause at hand is what I so deeply believe in."

Serena Davidson

Davidson's experience working as a photographer with organizations such as the Oregon Child Development Coalition and the Oregon State Bar Affirmative Action Program gives her a deep appreciation for the unique concerns involved in documenting special programs with organizations whose participants and leaders value an emotionally intelligent approach.
